 Post subject: Why are there so many useless towers?

You all know the towers I speak of, the ones where you would not put them down even if it was all you had.



Firesprayer (Hey it would be fine but it has the 33% miss chance so its 33% crappier than competitive towers)
Shrub (2% crit + a MASSIVE 5% at lvl 25 WOW)
Fiery Pebble (150 aoe is far less than a cactus / pocket rocket with far less dps)
Snowy Pebble (Aoe size is good but the dps is terrible, 10% in the aoe woo!)
Broken Lightning Rod (mana charge takes too long for the spelldamage done, a physical tower in its place is far better)
Obelisk Of Fortuity (Dps would be competitive without the miss, tower says it has to warm up but it has no warm up mechanic?)
Frozen Mushroom (I have never seen the spelldamage on this proc outdamage a regular tower even with Naga + Potions)
Felweed (Dps would be good if the range was not useless for a carry)



Buried soul (Neat proc and spelldamage attack but the slow kills it, why isnt the dps higher for such a malus proc?)
Ice Mine (Why would I use this 700 range tower when I have higher range alternatives with a gurenteed slow?)
Frosty Rock (Same thing as the ice mine)
Frozen Troll (Always misses with the spell, even when manual targeting the damage is abysmal)



I tried to be lenient on what I consider "useless", but why are these towers even around, and why have they not been updated to have competitive damage or a support proc?

They just take up space on what otherwise might be a good tower roll.

Know other towers? Post em!

Buried Soul is a great spell damage amplifier so it is useful.
Also different slows stack, so placing a frosty rock or an ice mine is still useful, even if they don't deal as much damage or slow as well as other towers.

Placing a bunch of towers early on in the common and uncommon phase ruins economy, I roll 5 towers (2 phys 1 magic carry + 2 support) and upgrade them ASAP until I get useful rares.

I can barely keep up economy wise with upgrading 5 though.

Still, the range on those slow towers is absolute crap so building on the strip in team mode you get maybe 8 attacks per wave.

I do not see denial of the other towers being useless though.

I agree buried soul is a great support, but yes there are many early game towers that are completely useless, and I agree with most of the ones you have named. Tree stump is another one. It gets alot of multishot but the dmg is so low that it doesn't really matter how many projectiles it gets, it cannot carry.

really out of all the towers you posted the only one i ifnd truely useless is frozen mushroom. Ice mine actually has really good damage if you have ever built it. Frozen Troll has good dmg against masses , but the strength of it is more of a support as in that it stuns/slows. Frosty Rock really isn't that bad it has decent dmg and the stun is nice. The problem with frosty rock is that it's tower family members have such a huge drop off of ability factor. Which they probably shouldn't.

You dont think all starting fire towers and icy pebble are useless?

I challenge you to do a game where you start fire and only use fire for the first 20 waves on extreme and lose no lives.

If ya do it I want a replay because I would be in utter disbelief.

Heck even if you had 75% lives left I would be impressed.
